Club & Membership Policies

To ensure all of our members experience a safe and enjoyable workout environment, we ask that you please read and observe the following policies and guidelines. These policies may be updated from time to time, so we invite you to return to this page anytime.

COACHING IN OUR SPACES

We recognize that many of our members are skilled and advanced in their workout techniques and encourage a community environment where members share knowledge and assist each other in workouts. However, any member or guest not employed by or contracted by New TSI Holdings, Inc. as a personal trainer is prohibited from engaging in Personal Training, Private Coaching, Team Coaching, Physical Therapy, or any related activity in our Clubs. New TSI Holdings, Inc. reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to determine whether any act violates this prohibition.

AGE REQUIREMENTS

Any individual 14 years or older may join any Sports Clubs facility with parental or guardian approval. Children under the age of 14 may not utilize the cardio and strength training areas, or the group exercise studios unless enrolled in a specific Sports Clubs program or service. Check with your Club for age requirements pertaining to racquet sports and swimming pools. See also Playroom Policies in this section for additional services for children under 11.

CELL PHONE AND CAMERA USE

Use of cell phones for phone conversations and/or applications is strictly prohibited in cardio and strength training areas, group exercise studios, and locker rooms. You are welcome to use cell phones in our reception and seating areas, and we even provide complimentary WiFi, but we ask that you keep things moving in our workout spaces and maintain privacy in our locker rooms

RECORDING DEVICES

To ensure privacy, avoid including other members in your shots when taking photos or videos. Photography or video in private areas such as locker rooms, spa treatment rooms, saunas, steam rooms, pools, kids Clubs, or during group fitness classes is prohibited.

CHECKING IN AND MEMBERSHIP KEY TAGS

Please present your key tag to the Welcome Team for scanning each time you enter the Club. This improves security by distinguishing you from nonmembers. It also verifies the unique access privileges you’ve paid for, protecting the value of your membership. Another benefit is that we can monitor total Club usage and add staff when attendance spikes. We have also utilized Club check-ins for contests to award prizes. Finally, if you’d like to know how often you have used our Clubs (say for tax or insurance purposes), it makes obtaining a Club usage report possible.

Key tags may not be loaned to another person. Allowing someone else to use your key tag will result in immediate termination of your membership. Unfortunately, one strike and you’re out.

All members will be asked to have a photograph taken in the Club. This is to protect the integrity of your membership and for security purposes.

CHECKING IN AND MEMBERSHIP APP

Please download the NYSC App from the iOS or Android App Store. Please use your NYSC App to scan into the Club each time you visit. This improves security, verifies your unique access privileges, and protects the value of your membership. This information allows us to accurately monitor attendance and staff accordingly as well as run fun contests and challenges based on check-in data. You can also monitor and track your Club usage, which may be helpful for tax or insurance purposes.

Your barcode may not be shared with another person. Allowing someone else to use your barcode will result in immediate termination of your membership.

All members will be asked to have a photograph taken in the Club. This is to protect the integrity of your membership and for security purposes.

CLOTHING

A shirt and shorts or athletic pants and closed-toe athletic shoes must be worn at all times on the courts and in the fitness and exercise areas. Jeans, work boots, Crocs, slides, and other nonathletic attire and footwear are not permitted in our fitness/exercise areas.

SAUNA/STEAM ROOM

A towel must be worn in the sauna and steam room at all times.
Use of cell phones or electronic devices are not permitted
Refrain from loud conversations, and be mindful of other members’ relaxation.
Do not bring food or drinks into the sauna or steam room.
There is a zero tolerance policy for any inappropriate behavior at New York Sports Club. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in suspension of sauna and steam room privileges.

CLUB USAGE FEES

Additional Club usage fees may apply when visiting Clubs outside of your membership access.

These usage fees vary by Club. Please contact the Club you plan to visit for exact usage fees.

GUESTS

We welcome guests within all of our Clubs. There may be a fee depending on the type of guest pass being used and whether you are an out-of-town guest or trying the Club in consideration of joining. If you’re a first-time visitor, click here to try out a Club. All guests will need to show a photo ID.

LOCKERS

Our locker rooms have lockers for you to store your belongings while you work out. You must bring your own lock. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Some Clubs also offer self-serve lock boxes for valuables for one-day use at a very low fee.

Some Clubs offer an option for you to rent a locker on a month-to-month basis. The fee is non-refundable, and the locker is non-transferable. Anything left inside a locker after the rental has expired will be donated or discarded. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

PARKING

Some Clubs offer parking. Please contact your Club in advance for more information.

SMOKE-FREE ENVIRONMENT

We are committed to the health of our employees and members. Smoking is not permitted anywhere in our facilities, including all enclosed and outdoor areas of the Club and the entrance area immediately outside the front door. This applies to all smoking products (tobacco or other forms), i.e., cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and vapes.

TOWEL SERVICE

Many of our Clubs provide clean towels. There may be an additional fee for this service depending on your membership type and the Club you’re using.

We ask that all members limit towel usage to one towel per visit.

GENERAL

Policies may vary based on membership type, enrollment date, region, and Club location. Please review your specific membership agreement to confirm the terms and conditions that are applicable to you.

Membership is granted to an individual. Membership cannot be shared by multiple individuals. All individuals entering our Clubs must either be a member or a recorded guest. Allowing someone else to use your barcode to check in will result in immediate termination of your membership.

CANCELLATION POLICY

All memberships may be canceled under terms agreed upon and outlined in your Membership Agreement. Certain additional rights of cancellation, including consumer right to cancel, may vary by Club due to state and local regulations.

Our cancellation policy allows members to cancel their memberships:

At any time by providing notice in the manner and time frame specified in your membership agreement with a minimum of 5 business days’ notice before the end of the month to avoid being billed for the following month. If appropriate notice is not provided, the member may be subject to another billing cycle during which time an additional month of Club access will be provided.
Members may initiate a cancellation in person at any Club location or by sending a cancellation via mail, email, or phone to the Club. The Contact Us form may be used as well. Your membership will remain active until you receive confirmation of cancellation.

MEMBERSHIP FREEZE

You may freeze your membership for a minimum of one month, a maximum of 12 months, or any number of whole months in between.
Freezes cannot occur during the first 90 days after enrollment or during a 30-day notice period for cancellation.
Freezes cannot be applied retroactively or backdated.
Certain membership agreements may not permit freeze access, including but not limited to babysitting and locker rentals.

During a membership freeze:

You will be charged a fee for each month that you have your membership on freeze/hold.
You will not be billed your regular monthly dues.
You may not use the Club or any of its programs or services.
Any applicable annual fee will be collected.
Your obligation period (if applicable) will be extended by the amount of time your membership is frozen.

Following the expiration of your freeze, standard monthly billing will resume.

A medical freeze is available in the state of Pennsylvania for free when accompanied by a signed doctor’s note.

Members may request a freeze in person at any Club location. You may also initiate a freeze request through our Contact Us form.

To ensure proper billing, please request your freeze at least 5 business days prior to your billing date.

MEMBERSHIP UPGRADES + DOWNGRADES

Changes to your membership type may be available depending on the terms of your agreement. Membership changes may result in additional fees, a reduction in feeds, restrictions, or a new obligation period.

ANNUAL FEE

The Annual Fee is used to invest in our programs, equipment, and facilities to ensure you’re getting the best value for your membership dollars. Annual fee billing occurs 15 days after joining (where applicable) and on that calendar date each year thereafter. Please refer to the specifics in your membership agreement.

Older memberships may be required to pay a maintenance fee on a date other than their anniversary or pay no fee at all.

PERSONAL TRAINING MEMBERSHIP

To qualify for a Personal Training Membership, an individual must have an active Club membership in good standing. Personal Training Membership (PTM) agreements may require a minimum commitment period.

Please refer to your individual Personal Training Membership agreement and/or speak with a Club team member about your minimum term length. Additional fees may apply if you do not meet your minimum term.

Sessions have an expiration date. Unused training sessions cannot be reinstated or be assigned an extended expiration date.
Sessions are non-transferable.
PTM’s cannot be put on hold or freeze during the commitment period.
Membership cannot be downgraded during the 3-month membership period
One membership per person.

SINGLE SESSIONS

60-minute and 30-minute single sessions are available. There is no limit on the number of sessions that can be purchased. Please note, that sessions have an expiration window and must be used within that time period. Unused training sessions cannot be reinstated or be assigned an extended expiration date.

Sessions are non-transferable and non-refundable.
Sessions must be used at the Club where they were purchased.
24-hour notice of cancellation is required to avoid being charged for a session.

CLASS RESERVATIONS

Small Group and Team Training are paid sessions. Participants must register for these services in advance.

You must be listed on the class roster in order to participate in a Small Group or Team Training class.

Buy and register for Small Group or Team Training in the Club or on the NYSC mobile App. In the App, purchase options may be limited.

Sessions have an expiration date. Unused Small Group and Team Training sessions cannot be reinstated or assigned an extended expiration date.

Small Group and Team Training sessions are nonrefundable.

CYCLING TIPS

Arrive 10 minutes early to properly set up your bike.

Check to make sure all pins and toe clips are secure.

New Riders:

Ask your instructor to properly set up your bike for you.
Ask your instructor how to use the brake.
Take it slow. The pedals do not rotate backward.
For safety reasons, don’t stand and pedal without sufficient pedal resistance. Ask your instructor how to increase your pedal resistance if you would like to stand.
Learn to handle the loss of bike control. You can use the emergency brake knob to slow the flywheel and the pedals if your feet slip off the pedals.

BEHAVIOR

Parents or guardians will be notified of any child’s misbehavior. Playroom staff reserves the right to deny access to any child as a result of continual behavior problems. If a crying child cannot be consoled after 10-15 minutes, the parent or guardian will be paged.

GENERAL RULES

For your child’s safety, members and guests may bring only their own children into the Playroom. All children must be signed in and out by the same parent or legal guardian, proper photo identification is required.

Members and guests must remain present in the Club for the entire duration of their child’s stay in the Playroom.

The maximum stay in the Playroom is two hours per each Club visit. Children may stay in the Playroom twice in the same day. However, there must be at least two hours between each visit.

For safety reasons, the babysitting staff reserves the right to refuse admittance if the ratio of children to Playroom staff exceeds company guidelines:

When children less than 3 years of age are present: ratio = 4 children / 1 staff
When children 3 years of age and older are present: ratio = 10 children / 1 staff
Children must have shoes on at all times (unless prohibited in certain areas of the Playroom). Please bring an extra pair of shoes during inclement weather.
It is preferable that children 9 months old or younger are dropped off in a car seat or stroller. Strollers must be stored away from Playroom activity so that they do not impede traffic or become a safety risk to children.
Equipment provided for children younger than 2 years old varies at each Club (e.g. highchairs, walkers, swings, and play mats).

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Sports Clubs babysitting staff reserves the right to deny access to any child who appears to be sick. Children kept home from school due to illness are not allowed in the Playroom.

In most Clubs, the babysitting staff is not permitted to change diapers. In the event a diaper change is necessary, the parent or guardian will be paged. In Clubs where diaper changing is provided, the parent or guardian must bring diapers and wipes as well as a change of clothing. Children who are being potty-trained must wear training pants.

The following items are NOT permitted in the Playroom:

Sharp, hard-edges or pointy objects
Items small enough to be a choking hazard
Glass items
Plastic bags
Markers not provided by the Playroom staff
Food and beverages, except for beverages that are labeled and in non-spill containers

PRICING AND HOURS

Babysitting hours of operation and rates may vary at each participating Club. We offer a single-charge, 2-hour session or a monthly babysitting package. Babysitting services are not available at all locations.

PREVENTION OF POOL CONTAMINATION

While we frequently test pool chemistry to maintain safe conditions, we ask patrons to assist us by stridently observing the following precautions:

Shower before swimming and wash hands thoroughly after using the toilet facilities or changing diapers.
Infants and toddlers who are not potty-trained must wear a swim diaper and a swimsuit (or rubber pants).
Disposable diapers are not permitted in the pools.
Remove your child from the water every 30 minutes for a bathroom check or a diaper change.
Please change diapers only in bathrooms.
Refrain from using the pools if you have been sick during the past 14 days.
Swim caps and shoe covers are required at some locations.

CONTAMINATION

In the event that contamination of a pool is detected, the pool will be closed immediately. It will not be returned to service until safe conditions have been re-established and any required tests have been satisfactorily completed.

GENERAL RULES AND PRECAUTIONS

We’re committed to providing a safe and secure environment at all our pools. As diving and swimming are potentially dangerous activities, we ask that all patrons observe the following rules and safety precautions while using the pool facilities.

No rough horseplay, running, or standing on shoulders.
No glass containers allowed in the pool area.
Diving is permitted only in the diving wells.
Please observe all rules posted in the pool areas.
Never swim alone. A minimum of two adults 18 years of age or older must be present whenever the swimming facility is in use.
There is no substitute for adequate supervision. Children younger than 15 years of age must be accompanied to the bathing facility by a parent or guardian (an adult who is responsible for the children and their behavior.)
In an emergency, notify the pool manager and contact help as soon as possible. Telephones are provided at pool facilities. Telephone numbers for the nearest emergency medical service are posted.
Only use pool facilities during posted hours of operation.

SAFETY AND SUPERVISOR (14 YEARS AND YOUNGER)

We ask that parents require their children to exit the pool and take a break a minimum of every 30 minutes. Please use these break times to evaluate your child’s bathroom needs, level of fatigue, and sun or heat exposure.

THUNDER AND LIGHTNING

In the event of thunder and lightning, the staff will instruct patrons to evacuate the pools (including indoor pools). If lightning is in the area, the surrounding pool premises will also be cleared of people. The staff will reopen the facility 30 minutes after the last heard thunder or, in the case of lightning, 30 minutes after the last observed incident.

CLINIC SCHEDULING AND INSTRUCTOR ASSIGNMENTS

Clinic schedules and instructor assignments may differ from session to session. Requests may be made, however, the racquet department does not guarantee class schedules or instructor assignments.

Session changes may be permitted depending on availability. Participants wishing to change the day or time of a session after it has been scheduled will be charged $5.00 per change. No changes may occur without the approval of the manager and cannot be facilitated directly through the instructor. Alternative classes may be suggested if minimum class enrollments are not met. Early registration is recommended for reserving class time preferences.

SQUASH COURT

Protective eyewear/safety goggles are required.
Black-soled and street shoes are not allowed on the court.
Children under 14 must be supervised by an adult.
Racquetball, lacrosse, and other non-squash sports are not permitted.
Exit the court in a timely manner when your reserved time is complete so that other members may start on time.
Gum, food, and beverages are not allowed.
Refrain from loud and inappropriate language.

TENNIS COURT

Exit the court in a timely manner when your reserved time is complete so that other members may start on time.
Gum and food are not allowed.
Refrain from loud and inappropriate language.
Contact your Club for more specific information regarding court fees.

MISSED CLINIC MAKE-UP POLICY

There are no make-up classes guaranteed for missed clinics. A make-up class may be provided at the Club’s discretion based on availability. If the Club cancels a class for any reason, we will provide a make-up class before the end of the session, but cannot guarantee the date or time of the make-up class. A class must be missed before a makeup can be scheduled. Once the make-up is scheduled, it cannot be rescheduled. There are no make-ups for missed make-up classes.

PRIVATE LESSON 24-HOUR CANCELLATION POLICY

To avoid being charged for a lesson, all participant cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance through the instructor or racquet sports department.

REFUNDS AND CREDITS

All sales are final. There are no refunds or credits for missed reservations, clinics, or private lessons. All purchases must be redeemed by their given expiration date.

RESERVATIONS

Courts must be paid for at the time of booking.
Courts can only be reserved by a member of the Club
If all the courts are reserved, you may be placed on the waiting list.
